This house was a big challenge for us. The plot is exceptional for the conditions of Poznań. Very large and gives a lot of freedom in shaping both the body of the building and the location of the building on the plot.
The instructions from the client stated that the house should have a modern look, a flat roof and a roofed place for outdoor recreation. In addition, we had to make the house, despite the extensive functional program, cheap to operate.
We decided to take advantage of these opportunities and distribute the functional layout of the building in a model way in relation to the parts of the world, so as to optimally illuminate the interior and take care of the appropriate energy balance of the building.
We have arranged all rooms so that the sun accompanies the inhabitants during the natural cycle of the day.
We opened the bedrooms of all the household members to the south-east. Thanks to this procedure, residents will wake up naturally when the sun begins to illuminate their bedrooms. The living area of the house, consisting of a living room with dining room and kitchen, opens to the south-west. Thanks to this, when the household members return from work / school, they will be able to spend time in the living room, dining room, garden in the afternoon sun.
Thanks to this approach to the arrangement of rooms, we have obtained two intersecting directions. By overlaying the body of the private part of the single-story living area, we obtain a natural terrace and an overhang, giving the possibility of outdoor relaxation even in the rain. The hanging itself is designed in such a way that it protects the living room against rays of light that can overheat the room in summer, while in winter it will let the rays in and illuminate the interior on sunny days.
All this has been dressed in an elegant simple form, where natural brick and white plaster gently blend in with the surroundings.
