Hutchinson Residence is located on a quiet street of Kew near the leafy Yarra Bend Park. The interior design intent was to refresh the tired and segmented living spaces of the original dwelling and create an open and functional interior layout.

The interior palette is rich and elegant. The walnut coloured engineered timber floor replaces the old and worn out beige nylon carpet bringing a sense of warmth and sophistication to the interior. The blue shaded custom joinery throughout the house adds a level of playfulness and personality.

The redesigned open plan kitchen is inviting and generous. The large square island bench provides a perfect opportunity for socialising and family time. The geometry and materiality of the kitchen joinery is designed specifically to work with the owners cooking habits as well as existing condition of the house such as window openings and service connections. This has contributed significantly in terms of constructability and cost consideration.
