This asymmetrical “twister” is the core of the sculpture. It “takes off” from the fountain and “flies” toward the Butterfly Garden and lake. Seven stainless steel cables suspend this spiral mid-air. The front of the spiral contains cut-outs, spelling out those disciplines housed in the adjacent Sattgast Hall. The spiral is also treated with a number of cast/fabricated elements and seven built-in color changing LED elements.

Seven symbolic books (made of dichroic glass panels of different colors) represent colorful butterflies, symbolically flying over the garden.

The fountain’s design complements the sculpture concept.
