INTERHEROES

The intersection between comics and architecture is an extremely challenging and full of common narrative mechanisms. The comic strips are one of my first encounters with the architecture during my childhood. Travel with the imagination of a child through Gotham City in Batman or through New York together with Superman and Spiderman helped the growth and education of a generation of architects. The design and the narrative are, in the activity of an architect and a cartoonist, the common tools of interpretation, knowledge of reality and visualization of possible worlds. The authors of comics feed architecture and contemporary city and sometimes the comics lend ideas to architecture. The idea of these 17 images was creating and shaping environments interiors as if they were the homes of some of the most iconic superheroes in the history of comics. The shadow of the protagonist dyes and designs the colors, the shapes and the objects that make up the spaces. I tried to create images in balance between playful codes of cartoon and the expressive rigor of architecture. It is a short architectural journey into the world of comics through the script of 17 small illustrated stories. The chairs, armchairs, lamps, walls and the paintings are in these interiors the key pieces that make up the mosaic that speaks about its host.
