Inverted Penthouse

The stairs are the starting point of the house, providing order and embracing the surrounding space. The ladder is made of stainless steel bent plate intended to solve the problem of lighting though reflection from its polished surface and the patterns of microscopic perforations which let the light pass through. What sets this project apart is the diversity and articulation of the different materials employed in the construction, resulting in a unique sculptural solution. The surrounding hall comes up from a coexistence between natural and artificial; a inverse pool above on ceiling, a Giaretta ceramic partitions, Himalatan Sky, and a doormat basement on floor.

The stair and the hall mean the common point between the public and private spaces in the house, so that the living room, terrace and kitchen keep together as a continuous space.

The different floors divide the house in three areas: dry, wet and mix ones. Living room, bedrooms and transition areas share a red travertine marble. Floors and partitions in bathrooms and laundry are covered by different kinds of little tiles (gresite) to get a plastic effect between vertical and horizontal plans.

Another element which gives continuity to the house and allows a global perception of the space is the air conditioning and its lines of design. The false ceiling does just not exist. The concrete floor of above keeps nude, except one part where we have a horizontal handmade wooden box which contains the air conditioning systems. This worked wood gives a continuous relieve in each swerve and change of plane. This texture spreads also to the vertical planes next to the way, such as doors, partitions and ceilings, giving by the way a more plastic perception to the architectural ensemble.

The aim is getting a global plastic perception of the house, where each small place in it takes part of the whole thanks to the invasion of ones materials over others.
