DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY
The building opens to the city...
It may be observed from the railway station…
Its cutout can be seen as one approaches it from
The park and gets immersed into the grove of the seminary…
The facades multiply...
The building appears just as it is, without hiding its noble materials and simplicity, which make it to look strong and unique…
Due to the closeness with the railway station, the Villa Devoto seminary and the nearby greenhouse, the building appears as being “liberated” thanks to the distension generated by the open spaces with trees.
The presence of the centenary tipa trees along the seminary sidewalk, with their particular height, foliage and yellow flowers, embraces the building and
generates a green corridor over the paving stone of the street.
The materials just as they are with their colors and textures, the raw materials, noble, real and true, do not hide their essence.
the plasticity, with which the concrete structure has been treated, gives shape to the volumetry in the work, the enclosed glazed transparencies, lights and
shadows, cross ventilation and movement of matter.
The supported and the supporting are exposed, partitions and beams come out to the exterior, while the slabs juxtapose over them, balcony terraces move and they project themselves one to the other, coming in and out, playing with the view of the vegetation…
All that we see as being structural, such as the glazed enclosure on the dividing walls and the white plaques, emphasize the criterium of dwelling cells that
end up trapped by the structural system, the structure is the work…
The relationship with the street and its space is mimetic, the building cannot be understood without its sorroundings, the dweller is linked with this interior-
exterior reality, through the expansions that are posed by the building, coming from the street, the stair landings with natural light, prior to the dwelling cells
