The new Kendo offices boast an almost impossible sleekness, an invigorating brightness, and graphic walls that evolve along with beauty trends, all underscored by a recurring use of gold and gilded finishes that elevate the space into a luxe oasis.
The gold finishes, as the space, are multi-faceted, taking on different qualities — matte, shiny, light, saturated — depending on their proximity to light. At the entrance, the beginning of a long, gilded wall appears to hover just over the floor line, letting through a band of bright light at foot level, and the imprint of the Kendo logo at eye level. This central wall anchors the rest of the office, whose spaces are organized along its length, and culminates in a shared lounging space where plush black leather seats come together with round gilded ottomans to create a plush resting spot from which to take in views of the city.
Following the long line of that central wall, a shared table stretches toward the same resting space, tall plastic chairs on either side of it catching the light and redirecting it, a soft intermediary between the hard lines of the table and the soft leather cushions of the chairs. Overhead, a light fixture reproduces this intermingling between contrasting geometries: gold-lined conical shades held by a rectangular frame cast light down onto the table, their profile against the white of the frame cutting a stark yet soft line.
On the periphery of this main space, linear door handles invite visitors into different, more private worlds. As the gold finishes give way to other hues — a soft blush pink in one room, an inky black in another — fanciful, dreamy spaces for smaller meetings and conferences emerge. All the spaces, and their hues, come together into an office that’s as sleek and on-trend as Kendo itself.
