Located on a quiet Tel Aviv street characterized by preserved buildings and a distinctive boutique atmosphere, this garden apartment embodies a delicate dialogue between intense urbanity and enveloping intimacy. The street, reflecting the city’s layered and chic character, serves as a backdrop for a project that seeks to create a living experience detached from the bustle outside, yet still connected to it in a measured and continuous way.

Situated on the ground floor, the apartment opens onto a lush private garden that wraps around it, allowing for a gradual and gentle transition between the urban environment and a protected interior space. The design establishes an experiential sequence: from the dense street, into a green, retreat-like outdoor setting, and from there into the interior- warm, deep- toned, and embracing.

The chosen material palette emphasizes depth and intimacy. Exposed concrete, dark wood parquet, stone, and glass come together to form a rich material composition, creating a sense of a domestic “womb” within the chaos of the city. At the same time, subtle geometric divisions in the parquet and glass partitions introduce an element of lightness and playfulness, balancing the weight and intensity of the materials.

The public space was designed with a soft separation between functions, while maintaining constant visual connections. The living room, kitchen, and dining area are positioned so that each reveals a different view of the surrounding garden, while preserving a visual link that unifies them into a cohesive whole. The dining area acts as an intermediate space, mediating between the living area and the working zone of the kitchen.

A system of glass partitions with precise geometric divisions defines various zones within the apartment: between the living area and the staircase, between the kitchen work area and storage, and between the hallway and the private bedroom. These partitions allow for flexibility- maintaining visual continuity and the flow of light, while also enabling closure, privacy, and separation when needed.

The result is a sophisticated living environment that balances openness and enclosure, exterior and interior, and urban intensity with domestic warmth- an apartment that is both an intimate refuge and an integral part of the city that surrounds it.
