Kumbrata

Located one block from the emblematic Parque de la Alemán, Kumbrata is set within a consolidated urban context defined by its neighborhood identity, active community life, and historical value within the city of Mérida.

The project proposes a contemporary reinterpretation of collective housing at a contained scale. It is a four-story building with two units per level, prioritizing spatial efficiency and environmental quality over intensive densification.

Each apartment is configured with two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, allowing flexibility in use—from family living to co-living schemes or investment purposes. The internal layout is driven by functional clarity, eliminating residual spaces and optimizing every square meter.

Architecturally, Kumbrata is defined by a restrained and precise expression. The use of clean lines and simple geometries responds not only to an aesthetic intention but also to an efficient and replicable construction logic.

The design prioritizes cross ventilation and natural lighting in all units, reducing reliance on mechanical systems and enhancing thermal comfort in the region’s warm climate. This strategy, together with the building’s orientation and the proportion of its openings, enables an appropriate environmental performance for everyday living.

Beyond the architectural object, Kumbrata seeks to integrate into the neighborhood’s dynamics, promoting a walkable lifestyle and a direct relationship with public space. Its proximity to the park, as well as to services and urban amenities, reinforces the idea of a connected daily life, where the domestic and the collective are naturally intertwined.
