In March 2020, SSP AG was awarded the general planning contract for the new Technology Center Ruhr (TZR) project in Bochum as part of a public, Europe-wide VgV ideas competition.
On a gross floor area of around 12,000 square meters, start-ups, technology companies and future-oriented companies from various sectors will find their new home in highly flexible and adaptable spaces - in the immediate vicinity of Bochum University of Applied Sciences and Ruhr University (RUB).
The heart of the concept proposed by SSP is the innovation forum on the ground floor, which organizes the networking of various municipal and regional players and presents the latest interdisciplinary research projects and work assignments from industry with events, workshops and workshop processes.
In particular, the successful regional city partnership between Bochum-Witten-Herne-Hattingen is to be strengthened and profiled by the planned project.
The building follows the method of the SSP planning label "GreytoGreen" and impressively implements the sustainability strategies of efficiency (energy and resources), consistency (cradle to cradle) and sufficiency (avoidance of unnecessary building materials and elements).
Another goal of the concept addresses climate adaptation measures in the context of advancing climate change. Here, elements such as the green south-facing climate façade, water storage on the roof, façade and plot, as well as the scientifically supported planning process, which accompanies and optimizes the interaction of the various measures applied, provide support.
