Kyrö Sauna Bar was a temporary pop-up experience in central Helsinki, operating from 2024 to 2026. Created for Kyrö Distillery, the project brought the atmosphere of rural Ostrobothnia into an urban setting through a unique combination of Finnish sauna culture and rye whisky tradition.

The venue was organized into a sequence of immersive spaces inspired by the distillery’s origins, guiding visitors from timber-clad gathering areas through a whisky barrel warehouse to a courtyard sauna. At the heart of the concept was a compact prefabricated sauna, where dark materials, low lighting, and traditional washing rituals created an authentic and intimate bathing experience.

Sustainability was a key design principle throughout the project. Reclaimed timber, repurposed exhibition materials, surplus concrete, and reused whisky barrels were integrated into the architecture, creating a rich and tactile environment while minimizing waste. Through storytelling, material reuse, and sensory design, Kyrö Sauna Bar offered a contemporary interpretation of Finnish traditions and shared social experiences.
