La Casa Olive e Capperi is a detached house in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula, set within a large garden dedicated to olive cultivation. The ever-changing colors of the dense vegetation, in close dialogue with the sunlight, define the guidelines of the project’s moodboard and become the source of inspiration for all the interpretative choices of the spaces.
The property’s small size—only 45 square meters—develops within a floor plan grid already well defined by the thick load-bearing masonry that determines its structural configuration.
Mr. and Mrs. Olive e Capperi were already undertaking their second renovation, so they had a clear understanding of how they wanted to live in the new spaces available to them.
The constraint of the limited square footage made it possible to approach the project consciously, almost like a personal and therapeutic analysis of what is truly needed to feel well.
Away with spaces filled just for the sake of being occupied—welcome spaces that are full and meant to be used, microcosms in which to reconnect with oneself. Away with the need to create storage furniture just to accumulate unused objects, and instead the courageous choice to surround oneself only with what truly belongs to us, without being afraid to let go of the superfluous.
