Design Statement:
Lamitak unveiled the “Found on Elemental Core” exhibition, a six-hour launch event reinterpreting surface laminates inspired by stone, wood, mountains, and everyday lifestyles. The structure drew from mountain forms, abstracted into a bold, graphic language that presented a product story rooted in nature. Suspended laminate sheets created layered compositions, narrating depth and variety, while reused lighting from past exhibitions added subtle highlights.
Sustainability was central: the installation used a rental lock-in frame for fast build and dismantling, with all elements designed for reuse. The structural frame was returned to the supplier, and the laminate sheets were later transformed into samples for architects and designers. Completed within 24 hours, dismantled in six, and realised within a restrained budget, the exhibition proved that temporary design can be impactful, sustainable, and resource-conscious. More than a product showcase, it became a statement merging storytelling, material innovation, and responsibility—delivering clear, memorable results with cultural relevance that extended well beyond its short lifespan.
Idea:
The exhibition launch of Lamitak’s surface collection was inspired by natural materials and everyday lifestyles. The design task was to create a temporary yet impactful installation. By abstracting mountain forms into a clean graphic structure, the exhibition highlighted the product story rooted in nature. Sustainability was central: all materials were rented, reused, or repurposed, proving that a six-hour event could be efficient, meaningful, and environmentally responsible.
Form:
The form was derived from mountains, reduced into a simple graphic language. Suspended laminate sheets created layered surfaces, emphasizing depth and variety of natural patterns. Lighting reused from previous exhibitions added subtle highlights, reinforcing both atmosphere and sustainability. The abstracted form not only showcased the product but also created a memorable spatial experience, where clarity and restraint.
Function:
The installation balanced efficiency with impact. Built within 24 hours, dismantled in 6, and operated for 6, it demonstrated how temporary exhibitions can communicate clearly while minimizing waste. Laminates were repurposed as samples for architects, and the structure was returned to suppliers, ensuring extended life cycles. With a compact footprint, the project delivered a strong visual narrative while remaining cost-effective and resource-conscious.
Sustainability:
Sustainability was central to the design. Although the exhibition lasted only six hours, the structure used a rental lock-in system for fast installation and dismantling. Laminate sheets were suspended in layered compositions, while lighting was reused from previous exhibitions. All elements were chosen for reusability: the structural frame was returned to the supplier, and the laminate sheets were later transformed into samples for architects and designers. The project shows how an exhibition can deliver clear and memorable results while remaining cost-effective and responsible in its use of resources.
