Saccal Design House crafts a luxury pied-à-terre where hotel-inspired elegance meets the warmth and ease of home
Perched on the 27th floor of a London tower, this 150m² apartment offers sweeping views of the Thames and a design story rooted in the experience of modern luxury. Conceived by Saccal Design House as a pied-à-terre and an occasional home for an aviation professional, the apartment transforms everyday living into a hotel-inspired retreat, one that feels both indulgent and deeply personal. The design focuses on atmosphere and emotional resonance, drawing inspiration from refined hospitality settings while remaining grounded in the rituals of home, a reflection of the client’s lifestyle, as he lives in Dubai and visits London frequently, seeking a space that offers the comfort of home with the luxury and ease of a hotel stay.
A warm welcome through seamless flow
From the moment you enter, the apartment reveals itself in one uninterrupted gesture. A custom feature wall begins in the entrance lobby and extends into the main living space. Crafted from wood, mirror, and tailored joinery, this element not only anchors the apartment but also serves a practical purpose, housing storage, concealing a hidden corridor door, and reflecting natural light throughout the space. Its seamless design connects the entry to the salon, establishing cohesion and calm from the outset. At the heart of the apartment lies an open plan living, dining, and kitchen area designed to evoke the effortless comfort of a luxury suite. A rich palette of dark ash wood, Emperador marble, and bronze detailing defines the interiors. The use of grooved joinery and subtle metal inlays adds texture and visual rhythm, while matte black lighting fixtures offer contrast and intimacy. A small workstation tucked near the dining area makes clever use of the panoramic view, providing a functional space that doesn’t interrupt the overall mood.
Private Comforts
The narrative of comfort continues into the apartment’s three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each room was conceived with tactile and visual serenity in mind. In the master bathroom, warm travertine lines the walls, evoking a spa-like atmosphere. In the bathrooms, fixtures from Antonio Lupi and Toto complement the clean, timeless aesthetic. Elsewhere, onyx ceramic from Domus and wallpaper from Wall & Deco introduce quiet layers of pattern and depth. Materials were selected not only for their finish but also for their sensory experience, inviting touch and creating a sense of grounded calm.
Born from constraints
One of the project’s most inventive design moments emerged from a spatial challenge – an especially common reality in a dense city like London, where maximizing every square metre is essential. In one of the guest bedrooms, the brief called for two twin beds, side tables, and full storage within a narrow footprint. The solution: upholstered headboards with fold-out side tables, inspired by automotive design. These bespoke elements include hidden charging ports and neatly tuck away when not in use, preserving access and openness in a compact layout.
Global coordination, local precision
Although the apartment feels cohesive and calm, its creation required intricate coordination. Most of the bespoke cabinetry was fabricated in Lebanon and shipped to London for installation, demanding rigorous planning and precise execution. At the same time, the team had to navigate UK building codes, particularly around fire safety and materials, to ensure full compliance. These behind-the-scenes complexities never distract from the final result: a design that feels effortless, complete, and intimately tied to its vision.
London Tower is more than a second residence; it’s a curated environment that offers a sense of pause. Through intentional planning, carefully chosen materials, and a commitment to understated luxury, Saccal Design House has shaped a space that balances the elegance of a hotel with the ease of home. Every detail reflects a lifestyle in motion, elevated, considered, and always rooted in how one wants to feel upon arrival: at ease, inspired, and fully at home, no matter what the city.
