LOOKING MAGIC ANTIQUE "BASOLE" ETNA BASALT STONE

F.lli LIZZIO S.r.l. - Etna Basalt Lava Stone Factory as Manufacturers

The Etna lava basalt is a typical artifact, made by craftsmen working the gray basalt extract from slopes by the Volcano. There are several Italian cities, mainly in the south, whose coatings flooring are paved with this amazing material, whose physical, mechanical and aesthetic are incredible. Machining Hand Points medium or large end of flagstone, is the oldest lava stone surface treatments . It was made with the tip or point and mallet, by manual skilled workers, such stonemasons and moreover, on site our family by Dad and Grandpa in their Cava. It is to perform a percussion of the stone by means of chisels of various sizes that determine on the surface of Basole alternation of depressed areas and raised areas; the final result depends largely on the degree of trimming required, to be selected from blunt "end" or puntillo end, popped "medium" or puntillo medium and popped "big" or puntillo big if, the effect of the reliefs is gradually growing. Surely it is the most characteristic processing basalt Sicilian, intrinsically linked to the history of this artifact: the ancient carvers have left us wonderful examples of what he meant to learn and perform this wonderful practice. In recent times, the companies that produce this article, has spread the reprehensible practice of working with lava stone hammers stripers and anything else with the trivial excuse that, there are more among young people, elements that are willing to learn a craft so complex, difficult and arduous. However, the Brothers Lizzio SRL, continue to train the boys to the school of the stonemason, inspiring us to the traditional manufacturing of our ancestors and passing on their cultural experience to the younger generation. The product performed with hammers stripers, does not require for the realization of experts masons, but simple workforce that performs a work plate and repetitive; furthermore, the resulting product losing its nature and importance, it seems rather resemble a fake example of ancient paving lava stone similar to an oriental element. It is undeniable however, against all logic that the only purpose for mere profit, which, Basola handcrafted by a skilled and experienced stonemason, leads us back into the past, giving us the same feelings that we live when we admire a paved town typical of the cultural Italian landscape.
