A young single executive with a beautiful dog PIPA. The owner bought the apartment from an investor who buys apartments and renovates them. However, the renovation still needed a sauce to bring out the client's personality. She wanted to break up the existing white, she also wanted an island, a fireplace, more texture and contrast in general.
The inspiration came from project references that featured black and texture as elements. Some ideas that came from Tulum and a more modern and cool Paris.
Working with an existing renovation was the biggest challenge. As there had already been a previous renovation, we had to come up with conscious solutions that didn't require a lot of work and that made the most of everything that was already there.
We replicated the texture of the floor from the previous renovation on the walls and ceilings to break up the white that bothered the client. We also changed all the door handles in the apartment. Another interesting aspect was that we had all the existing metals in the bathrooms painted black and we had the shower doors made in black metalwork as well. The stone on the kitchen island is another highlight, in addition to the cantilevered dining table that joins this beautiful island.
• Kitchen/Dining: Because the kitchen and its storage are small, we created an island to increase counter space and storage in addition to 2 stools for everyday meals. All of this incorporated into a cantilevered dining table for 6 seats that creates a variety of uses. In terms of materiality, we continued with oak stained in a special tone (the idea was for the tone to match the existing joinery), straw-colored limebeton texture on the walls and ceiling, and an island in botticino aglostone marble.
• Bedroom: Natural and neutral tones to give the warmth that the client wanted. Joinery in stained oak, existing wooden plank, texture in straw-colored limebeton, fabrics and coverings in gray and natural linen.
• Living room: Create different experiences and uses, taking advantage of the apartment's square footage, so we created a living room with TV and fireplace, with a super comfortable L-shaped sofa, which seats many people and serves as a chaise when necessary. In terms of materiality, we followed the other environments, that is, light lacquer, botticino aglostone marble, neutral fabrics, and a hint of color in the armchair.
• Bathroom: Walls and floor in straw-colored limebeton, incorporated into the existing countertop and floor in pigues marble, black metals that match the black metalwork shower with dotted glass.
• Closet: With its existing joinery, we made some small adjustments to accommodate the client's quantities, we incorporated a full-length mirror, and to close its look to the room, we closed the ends with the same wood as the suite and created a sliding door with sandblasted glass, so that light enters the space, but leaves everything more sectorized.
