In early 2021, the new Margaritaville Beach Hotel opened its doors, giving snowbirds and locals alike a place to find their "cheeseburger in paradise."The beachfront resort hotel in Jacksonville Beach, FLa. has 202 guest rooms and suites as well as the two-story Landshark Bar & Grill, a ground-level pool with boardwalk access, a fitness center, outdoor dining, fire pits, meeting and retail space, and more.
Building the eight-story structure from the sand up took just two years to finish, and despite the pandemic, the construction team was able to finish the project ahead of schedule. The first and second levels, which house the restaurant, retail space and front desk check-in area, utilize approximately 5,500 square feet of YKK AP's YHC 300 OG curtain wall system and incorporate approximately 250 square feet with two storefront systems YES 45 FS and YHS 50.
With many of the rooms and suites boasting incredible ocean views, some also include sweeping blaconies with floor-to-ceiling windows via the YHW 60 TU thermally broken hurrican impact-resistant window wall system, as well as access to the sea breeze via YSD 600 TH thermally broken impact resistant architectural rated sliding glass doors.
YKK AP worked closely with construction team to manage the multiple configurations needed to incorporate the sliding glass doors into the window wall to minimize visible framing and maximize sunlight and beach views. Through detailed pre-planning and setting up an onsite prefabrication area to assemble the facade elements, the team was able to install 138 slide door frames and 296 sliding door glass panels while simultaneously installing the roughly 11,000 square feet of window wall on the upper floors in record time and on schedule.
The result is an open, welcoming structure that beckons guests to visit the only place in Jacksonville Beach where it's always five o'clock somewhere.
