MARK is a space that operates as a brunch café during the day and a cocktail bar in the
evening. Its brand identity is built around the meaning of 'sealing wax'. More than a
simple decorative element, sealing wax is interpreted here as a symbol of preserving the present moment in its most precious form. The space was designed as a place where people can pause amid the bustle of everyday life and seal away meaningful memories with someone special.
“Seal the Moment”
Every space holds its own unique memories. Our design offers a sense of comfort and
ease, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the space, the food, and the conversation —and to step away, even briefly, from the difficult moments of everyday life. The site is openly connected on two sides, creating a strong sense of openness, while a single solid door provides a feeling of stability and enclosure. The main interior finishes—stucco, microcement, and red paint—extend naturally toward the exterior, as if sealing wax had been pressed outward from within the space. The subtle textures throughout are neither too rough nor too smooth. This was a deliberate strategy to ensure that the space could harmonize with both sides of the brand: the cafe during the day and the bar in the evening. For this reason, the overall palette was kept bright. The signature red, unlike the deep and dark tones commonly associated with bars, was developed into a lighter coral-red shade infused with warm beige undertones, allowing it to blend naturally with the surrounding finishes while maintaining its distinctive presence. During the day, the light tones and natural daylight create a bright and vibrant atmosphere. In the evening, when natural light fades, the interior lighting can be dimmed to transform the mood of the space.
The furniture was designed using wood and soft cushions to create the greatest possible sense of warmth and comfort. As guests move deeper into the space, both the ceiling height and lighting levels gradually decrease, enhancing the feeling of intimacy. At the far end of the space, the red color expands, bringing the story of the space back into focus. Throughout the interior, sealing-wax-inspired objects serve various functional purposes, directly expressing the identity of the space while adding moments of playfulness and discovery.
