Located in Aculeo lagoon, about 100km form Santiago, the capital city; the house is conceived as a weekend getaway for a young couple. The site is rather distant from the lake shore on a hill slope from where the lake can be seen. Consequently, the house acts as a landscape observatory from two main glass windows which bifurcate in height and direction so as to capture the different distant and close views. Like a binocular resting on a slope, one lens follows the existing inclination while the other rises in the opposite direction, transforming the initial parallel condition into a two headed body. This change affects dramatically the perception of the outside from the interior space. The geometrical inflexion point is defined by the central circulation which also defines level shifts and the two entrances.

The 160m2 programme is simple: a symmetrical axle divides the public from the private programme, the former containing an open kitchen, dining area and living room, while the second accommodates the master bedroom and two guest rooms. The material used is mainly steel structure covered by 5mm steel panels with hidden welded joints. Inspired by Tony Smith´s work, vertical and horizontal exterior surfaces meet in a continuous edge free from traditional constructive complexity. Synthesis and abstraction are achieved as expressions of a strange object standing mysteriously (and probably temporarily) in the site, like Stanley Kubrik´s monolithic totem (2001 A space Odissey) or perhaps spy bomber Stealth F117.
