This old Catalan rural house, located in the old town of Girona holds a treasure for the inhabitants of the city, a garden with many plants and trees including several protected species. The concept of interior design is based on the idea of emphasising this phenomenon, the proposal consists in introducing nature into the restaurant. All the intervention is made on the existing architecture, taking advantage or re-inventing the existing. The lay-out of the restaurant is made up of a sequence of connected spaces, offering the visitors a walk through the rooms, in each of which new findings appear, as if they were wandering in a garden. The first area one finds transports us back to the origins of the house since we enter via the stables. There are still animal drinkers turned into garden pots. The next area is an inner patio featuring suspended wicker lights that highlight the entrance to the restaurant and bring a dreamlike atmosphere.
When we walk inside the restaurant, the lobby transmits the comfort of a house, with couches, a chimney, rugs and, at the same time, it tells us about nature’s incursion through raffia panels located on the ceiling. This room leads to the dining room located on the back façade, which is also an extension of the idea of a private house through the use of round tables. The other areas represent a symbiosis between the exterior and interior, by combining garden furniture and velvety chairs and introducing noble materials, such as pine wood recovered from the tables and oak panelling, which are combined with other reflective and chromed materials, creating an eclectic point that provides a one-of-a-kind experience. The new concept aims to turn this traditional restaurant into a cool and mediterranean setting, remembering these bucolic French gardens or these summer evenings in a garden.
