MEET DESIGN: DESIGN TIME

Migliore + Servetto as Architects

After the editions of Meet Design exhibitions in Rome and Turin, that tended to enlighten the evolution lines of the project, the new edition, addressed to an Asian audience, proposes a transversal reading about the relationship between design and lifestyle, with particular reference to Italian design.

“Design Time” is a path through different moment of the day which explores, between icons and new products, how Italian design has embraced, at different levels, all the aspects of our everyday life, from domestic to work, to urban: it’s a spread out presence that passes through and supports our days, answering to different behaviours and needs.

Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto, Migliore+Servetto Architects, designers and curators of the exhibition, conceived it as part of the innovative trade fair concept of Beijing Design Fair they developed, that creates a strong dialogue between the cultural themes of Design Time and the artistic, actuality and debate contents of the central square and the commercial ones of the exhibition spaces.

The exhibition has a very central position in the space and carries on an active dialogue with the fair around it: it’s a ring that marks and contains the central square, a place for meetings and events around which, on the outside, turns the whole exhibition path of Beijing Design Fair.

Over the ensemble the public can perceive here and there the outline of Milan and its outskirts, that have incredibly managed to remain one of the most active and meaningful international poles even now that design has certainly become not only Italian and has spread out.
