Awards: Outstanding Design Award (Council of Educational Facility Planners International)
Built to bring together 1500 students and 100 staff members, Memorial Composite High school is an acclaimed K-12 facility serving not only the community of Stony Plain, but also the surrounding rural area.
Integrating the existing Westerra Building, our design included additions to the site, such as a gymnasium and a science wing. The space is varied, enjoyable, healthy, innovative and inspiring to students, parents and the community. Following the grand opening, the school was featured in local papers, and has since received significant recognition in the community.
In keeping with Alberta Infrastructure’s sustainable buildings policy, the school is designed to LEED® Silver standards, and serves as the first of many steps toward a sustainable future for the community of Stony Plain.
