The design for the community centre of Jonkhove aims to be as respectful as possible with the built and natural environment of the village while revitalizing the town's identity and social network of the neighborhood thanks to its carefully studied size, scale and architectural language.
It seeks to inspire and strengthen the community by means of a collaborative and codependent structure that symbolizes the importance of cooporation within a collective. A network of spaces that by interaction of one with each other increases exponentially the flexibility of use and offers multiple opportunities for expansion.
The building is integrated by an ensemble of overlapping volumes that engage together to create a recognizable image that reflects the diversity and heterogeneity of the program and its user groups. It is a small village in itself.
Environmental and social sustainability go hand in hand in this project by the integration of innovative solutions in the fields of energy, climate and healthy materials that positively impact the well-being of the users and therefore improves the conditions for the development of a good community
