The transformation of Minos Palace centers around a philosophy of wellbeing and consciousness, expressed through architectural storytelling. The concept was designed as a metaphorical journey of self-discovery, evolving from external exploration to inner reflection. Drawing inspiration from the “Earth Crack” — a symbol of healing and renewal — the design intentionally disrupts the building’s rigid rectangular grid, introducing nature’s organic forms and aesthetics to evoke emotional and sensory experiences.
The project unfolds in two main phases: the Reception, Lobby Bar, Restaurant, and Pool Lounge are set for completion in spring 2024, while the Wellness Space is scheduled for 2025. The design blends aesthetics with functionality to create a resort that supports deep transformation, positioning Minos Palace as a leading luxury wellness and medical destination.
Natural, earthy tones guide visitors through spaces that echo the transition from dynamic to serene. Curved, textured walls, sculptural free-form furniture, and varying floor levels resembling geological fractures all create a dynamic yet cohesive atmosphere. The goal is to break from the conventional layout, cultivating a space that fosters consciousness, tranquility, and connection to nature.
Overcoming the challenge of inserting surprise into a linear architectural base, the design employs organic forms and soft textures. Minimalism is balanced with warmth through soft lighting, tactile materials, and natural elements. Materials such as polished concrete, soft plaster, and custom metal fixtures ensure both durability and sensory richness.
Operational functionality was also a top priority. In dining areas, service points were strategically placed to enhance staff efficiency without disrupting the guest experience. The restaurant’s flow is carefully concealed, ensuring visual comfort. Accessibility was improved at the hotel’s entrance by replacing stairs with a ramp, emphasizing inclusivity and creating a more welcoming ambiance.
Lighting played a central role in enhancing atmosphere: floating lanterns and pathway lights cast a diffused, calming glow, while outdoor water and fire elements were engineered for both aesthetics and safety. Dense landscaping with bamboo and other flora offers natural soundproofing and privacy.
Sustainability is embedded in every aspect. The design embraces timelessness with raw, natural materials and collaborates with local artisans to source and fabricate custom pieces. Large sculptural elements were developed using advanced geometry tools to minimize material use and production waste. Indigenous marbles and other locally sourced materials were chosen to reduce environmental impact and limit the transport of heavy structures.
Minos Palace represents a holistic integration of nature, architecture, and wellness. By merging artistic design with sustainable practices and operational efficiency, it redefines the guest experience — not just as a stay, but as a curated journey into healing and consciousness.
