MOA Villa is a six-bedroom residence located in the neighborhood of Canggu, Bali. Completed in 2023, the villa is a testament to Ilot Architects’ philosophy of integrating contemporary design with the natural environment. The project emphasizes clean architectural lines, functional spatial organization, and a seamless integration between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Occupying a 323.76m² site with a total built area of 267.03m², the villa features a steel structural system complemented by a carefully curated material palette. The exterior incorporates Bengkirai wood, Iron wood, glass, and concrete, with stone finishes such as Andesit and Sukabumi contributing to its organic aesthetic. Granite details further enhance the materiality, grounding the architecture within its tropical landscape. Large expanses of windows allow natural light to permeate the interiors while framing views of the gardens and adjacent rice fields.
The architectural layout adopts an open-plan setting, connecting living, dining, and kitchen spaces to create a sense of continuity and fluidity. High ceilings and full-height sliding glass doors optimize cross-ventilation while fostering a connection to the outdoors. Timber elements, particularly Bengkirai wood, are employed extensively to bring warmth and texture to the minimalist interiors. Bespoke joinery and black stone countertops in the kitchen underscore the design’s attention to detail and material interplay.
Outdoor spaces are integral to the villa’s design, with a wooden deck, poolside greenery, and a private swimming pool that complements the tropical setting. The transition between interior and exterior spaces is facilitated through the use of folding glass doors and uniform material finishes, blurring the boundaries between built and natural environments.The six bedrooms feature natural wood finishes, soft furnishings, and expansive windows that frame contextual views. Bathrooms are outfitted with premium fixtures and freestanding soaking tubs, combining luxury with understated elegance.
