This apartment in Moscow where contemporary art is more than just decor, but a defining element of its atmosphere, has been masterfully designed by Andrey Agamirov. The collaboration between the designer and the homeowner, a young woman enamored with the world of art, in this space was founded on a shared vision and understanding.
The client, previously accustomed to darker interiors, sought a change towards something brighter and more inviting. Central to the new design was her own collection of contemporary art, including a thought-provoking rubber sculpture by Samuel Salcedo. These pieces, set against lighter tones, become even more expressive and are the heart of the home's aesthetic.
Agamirov's approach to interior design focuses on using color to underscore the main idea of the space, closely reflecting the resident's lifestyle. "In this particular project, the light hues were chosen to highlight the unique charm of the modern art collection," he comments.
The apartment's layout, cleverly divided into public and private zones, maximizes the use of its 73 m² space. The public area comprises a cozy hall, a guest bathroom, and an integrated living and kitchen space designed for modern living. The private sector offers a tranquil retreat, including a bedroom and a master bathroom accessible through a wardrobe, all adorned with bespoke pieces by Russian designers.
The choice of materials was made with great care. The floors, with their textured boards, evoke an age-old elegance. Metallic touches in the kitchen add a luxurious feel, while the bathroom's ceramic panels and built-in furniture in monochromatic tones create a spacious feel.
Radius cornices, a favored design element of Agamirov, seamlessly blend walls with ceilings, softening the interior and creating a sense of completeness. The double doors leading to the bedroom suite, wardrobe, and bathroom subtly reference classic interior styles, providing a unique spatial experience.
The living room, in particular, is a testament to Agamirov's design philosophy. "I always put special emphasis on the living room design. It's not just a place for entertaining but also for personal relaxation, so achieving the right balance of comfort and style is crucial," he explains. This space allows the owner to enjoy serene solitude, host intimate dinners, or celebrate with friends, adaptable to her varying needs and moods.
