An interior design exercise where function, symbolism, and light converge to define a clear identity – an architectural interpretation of control, balance, and breath. A space conceived as a direct extension of its core concept: movement.
Starting from a raw 130 sqm construction site, Moon Pilates Studio has been transformed into a stage for an extensive process of design, execution, and customization — redefining the relationship between body and space, between function and expression.
Every phase of the interior design — from partitioning and technical installations (sanitary, electrical, HVAC) to material selection and custom furniture sketches — was guided by a clear intention: to build a cohesive identity and deliver a memorable experience for the studio’s users.

FUNCTIONALITY & SPATIAL ORGANIZATION
The project was defined from the outset by a clear function: a pilates studio centered around a main training space equipped with specialized equipment. Around this core, the layout unfolds with open-access storage, a compact reception area that flows into a relaxation zone, and a corridor leading to auxiliary spaces — including locker rooms, restrooms, a massage suite, and a private trainer’s area with kitchenette and storage.

CONCEPT
THE MOON AS SYMBOLIC OBJECT
The conceptual foundation of the design was built around the Moon – a poetic, symbolic, and scenographic object. This idea materializes in the space through a large, semi-spherical structure, which serves not only as a visual feature but as a compositional anchor around which the entire layout revolves.
Strategically positioned and illuminated from a hidden cove with warm LED lighting, the Moon adds visual gravity to the space. At its base, natural greenery introduces a living, organic counterpoint that softens the overall aesthetic and creates a sense of balance.

A SPACE SCULPTED THROUGH CONTRAST AND COMPLEMENTARITY
| mineral, lunar, organic
A key architectural gesture in defining the studio's identity lies in the compositional dialogue between three distinct elements: the sculptural reception desk, the symbolic lunar volume, and a wall with a circular cut-out. Together, these define a symbolic and visual axis that structures the space and creates a cohesive spatial narrative.
This axis reveals itself from the moment of entry. The reception desk — sculptural and mineral — is a bespoke piece, inspired by raw rock formations. Its irregular volume and textured surface introduce a deliberate contrast to the clean lines of the surrounding space, grounding the composition in materiality.
At the opposite end, the wall with a circular cut-out discreetly separates the training area from the locker rooms. Instead of closing off, it introduces a controlled opening — a circular void that subtly connects two functional zones. This wall acts as a visual counterbalance, a “negative” to the Moon’s “positive” presence. The greenery that spills through this aperture enriches the spatial transition and enhances the interplay between material, light, and symbolic form.

MIRRORS — TOOLS FOR CORRECTION AND AMPLIFICATION
To enhance spatial perception and support pilates practice, large mirrors were installed not only vertically on the walls, but also overhead on the ceiling — an unconventional solution that offers a perspective rarely seen in this type of space. This unique visual setup encourages posture correction and body awareness in a natural, intuitive way.
From a technical standpoint, the ceiling mirrors are suspended from a custom-designed metal frame, anchored at six precisely calibrated points above the training machines. This structural solution, developed in close collaboration with an engineer, brings both functionality and architectural distinctiveness, blending technical complexity with the studio’s overall aesthetic.

MATERIALITY & ATMOSPHERE
The materials and textures chosen strike a balance between industrial and organic. Stone-like textures, soft white parquet flooring, wooden inserts from the equipment, natural vegetation, and an exposed black-painted ceiling all contribute to a cohesive visual language that supports the concept without overwhelming it.
Subtle brass accents in handles and detailing, suspended fixtures, and warm linear LED lighting work together to shape multiple lighting scenarios — from calm ambient settings for waiting areas to focused task lighting during active sessions. Here, light is more than utility; it becomes a compositional element — highlighting textures, setting rhythms, and elevating materials.
Every finish, surface, and tone — even the color of the pilates equipment — was carefully chosen to align with the overarching concept. Nothing is arbitrary; everything is part of a coherent system where form, function, and concept merge into a space that not only hosts movement, but expresses it.
