Renovation and an extension to an existing house, located in the rural area in the center of Israel. The existing house, originally built in the 90’s, was to be adapted to the needs and style of its current owners - a young family with children.
The entrance to the house, originally at its front, was relocated along the side façade. This enabled better arrangement and connectivity between the interior spaces, as well as a clearer hierarchy and definition of the outdoor spaces around the house.
The existing small windows were replaced with large openings, embracing the greenery of the garden and viewing the landscape of the adjacent fields.
The two levels of the existing house defined its organization into two wings. The public spaces - the entrance, the kitchen, dining and living room – were located at the lower level.
The higher level, 50 cm above, contains the private spaces of the bedrooms and bathrooms. An open lounge connects these two wings and acts as the hub of the house.
