MtoB is a men's hair salon in Hwayang-dong, near Konkuk University, designed as a Men's Den — a quiet hideout in the city where men tend to themselves at their own pace. The salon does not define its service as a haircut to be finished quickly. Instead, the entire sequence of time spent here — arriving, talking, being groomed, and lingering a while — is defined as the brand itself.
The space is composed of two contrasting scenes. The cutting area is bright and exact: white textured walls, generous mirrors, and chrome-armed lamps give the act of cutting the density of craft. The bar lounge, in contrast, lowers its voice. Under a dimmer, warmer light stands a long communication bar finished in wood-stained plywood, where every visit begins and ends. Style consultations and everyday conversation cross the counter over a cup of coffee, and this act of communication becomes the essence of the service.
The den-like register of the lounge is completed by light and sound. A pendant fixture hangs low over the bar, washing the rough wall with pools of warm light, while wall-mounted speakers fill the room at a low volume — the sensory conditions of a hideout rather than a shop.
Materials carry the two temperatures of the space. Plywood and timber are rubbed with wood stain until the grain deepens, leaving warmth and a soft touch on the bar and furniture, while stainless steel and chrome details hold the cool precision of the salon's work. Cognac-brown leather chairs on polished frames sit between the two, aging naturally with use. This balance of warm wood and cold metal reflects what MtoB offers: the precision of the cut, and the ease of the den.
