The project takes shape from the demolition of a 1960s industrial building in one of the region’s most productive areas. The design is based on the functional differentiation between the building’s two floors and their orientation to the cardinal points, with one volume shifted over the other to provide shading for the lower level during the summer months.
This contrast between the two layers is also emphasized through a distinct use of materials: the ground floor, housing showrooms, has a solid footprint and large glass windows to maximize visibility and direct natural light; the upper floor features a lightweight, dynamic envelope that provides privacy for office spaces while allowing a more controlled and comfortable natural light. The entire building was designed using prefabricated, dry-assembled structures and components to minimize construction time.
