Located in the heart of town, the New York Palace is unquestionably one of the most famous buildings in Budapest.
The project involves enlarging the fourstorey historic structure, which is literally “flanked” by a new seven-floor building, in order to house a five-star hotel.
The focus of this work was the interior design of the meeting and convention areas, which are located in both the historic building and the new wing, for a total extension of approximately 1900 square metres. Specifically, the work involved six meeting rooms, a large 500-seat auditorium, the VIP lounge and hotel breakfast room, the business area, and all the spaces/foyers connected with these areas. The hotel design essentially turned to the sophisticated and clever use of highperformance but cosy materials: wood, ceramic tiling and leather deftly express innovative design while fitting in with the rooms’ prestigious atmosphere. Subtle finishes cover the ceilings, with polished wood for the walls, the installation of special lights to create different atmospheres, and furnishings that exquisitely “dress” the space.
