The boutique was designed in the trendy neighbourhood, Raja Park’s Fashion Street bustling with shoppers and food enthusiasts. The studio is designed for renowned fashion designer Nilesh Bhatia, heir to the legacy of his father, Narendra Bhatia, in the family's business of decor fabric, Golden Drape.
Embracing the rich old-world charm of Rajasthan's culture, the design studio transports you to an era of royalty and charm while infusing it with a fresh flair. The eight-month journey to bring this vision to life was no small feat. The client's desire was clear: they sought the opulence of Rajasthan's traditional architecture exuding grandeur while maintaining an inviting atmosphere that would beckon visitors and leave them eager to return.
Sawai Design Studio, the creative force behind the design, meticulously curated the interiors to reflect the brand's character. The result is a space that welcomes visitors and invites them to confidently explore and select their favourite pieces. The store's colour palette is a harmonious blend of teal and white, complemented by delicate touches of gold. Glass door closets, striking wallpaper, and a central open area allow customers ample space to peruse and consider their selections. Mirrors are fixed in the end of the walls making the space look bigger. Moreover, high-gloss paint is used for creating reflection.
Upon entering, the boutique captivates with its double-height entrance that seamlessly connects the outside with the inside. The studio's designers, Gaurav and Suresh describe it as a commercially designed space with a focus on minimalism and modern aesthetics, creating a canvas for fashion that transcends time.
The essentials of the store like the changing rooms, storage as well as the stairs are subtly hidden behind the arcades. The true magic of the studio lies in the way bridal, couture, modern, and royalty with a vintage heart collection is showcased. Some attires are elegantly framed within arched niches, exuding an air of timelessness. Additionally, small niches take the form of Jharokhas, showcasing hints of Rajasthan's traditional architecture and unique specialties. A movable metal stand is designed in the front of the curved wall in the same curves as the interior. Chandeliers adorn the space, paying homage to the rich, traditional architecture of Jaipur, which is intricately woven into every corner.
While the outcome is nothing short of spectacular, the journey came with its fair share of challenges. As the boutique is located at a considerable distance from the road, it initially posed the challenge of capturing the attention of passersby. Which was dealt with by creating the huge double-height arches with clear glass embedded in the arches on the exterior making it visible from the road. Moreover, the task of designing a two-floor space within an 18-foot height constraint, all while accommodating mechanical and electrical services, required a masterful touch.
Sharing about the space which has their heart, they said the transition from reception area to inner display area would be the one. The interior of the studio was designed keeping minimalism the centre point. In all Sawai Design Studio led by Ar. Gaurav Sharma and Ar. Suresh Kumawat delivered the most aesthetically pleasing store while keeping the functionality intact.
