Old Farmhouse Munich

Peter Haimerl as Architects

The oldest property that is still in Alt-Riem is the Schuster farmhouse Zendath family. This single storey farmhouse, consisting of house and stables, was built around 1750th Before architectural intervention Peter Haimerls parts of housing and remnants of the house were from the farm just yet received. In his conception of architect House and Stables joined by an inserted concrete cube, which reacts to the valuable monumental substance and holds two family-style units. It could the historical traces preserved almost untouched and the originality of the building are protected.

Jutta Görlich and Edward Beierle have photographically accompanied the construction phase of the Schuster farmhouse documentary and staged photographs. They show the transformation of the building from a ruin into a functional housing and link this with stories from cobbler farmers from old chronicles. In Schuster farmhouse a black woman met the new owner Stefan Höglmayer. Together, they play what they know based on chronicles and what could have happened since 1780, as the Schuster peasants lived, danced, and mourned their possessions sold. At the same time they turn questioningly to the House: Are we to blame, if the floor is not fixed? Will the house a different inhabitants? Will the wall is not my flowers? Grow a, the more you stretch the stones over the head is? The texts of beierle.goerlich were translated into English by the Munich poet Jürgen Bulla and flank the photographs.
