IDEA
When designing a building for very special users, the primary intention should be to create a space in which they feel comfortable and safe. The basic premise was to design a facility that would offer high-quality space and set a new approach to designing healthcare and educational buildings.
Maintaining a clear and effective circulation layout, using friendly building and finishing materials, and ensuring adequate daylight—all of these are very important elements in the building’s use and influence the way the space is perceived, as well as the rehabilitation and education process.
URBAN PLANNING
By organizing the space, the building was positioned parallel to the newly proposed road to give direction to the urban plan.
ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS
The building’s form consists of a two‑storey volume with two internal courtyards. A layout based on a regular geometric grid allows for the most economical solutions wherever possible. The rhythmic division of the facade is reinforced by a wooden perimeter walkway surrounding the building. The appearance of the facades is created by wooden joinery and ceramic tiles.
In accordance with the regulations, the designers—using their knowledge and experience—made changes to the area of some rooms: circulation spaces, regeneration areas, and the addition of supplementary rooms to ensure the quality functioning of the facility.
