Ordos100 is 100 villas of 1000m2 by 100 architects around the globe. It is exciting that in the global village there are so many different neighborhoods. Large part of the year, the site could be considered a desert. A desert covered in snow. The temperature drops below zero over 200 nights a year! Minus 20 degrees Celsius is not an exception. It was hard to get a good idea of the concept: The windows were covered in ice… The Project contains samples of the Ordos Holiday Inn: It is inspired by the inner garden of the hotel. The garden plays a central role. Literally. In stead of sitting in the middle of the plot, the house wraps around it. The 3 Layers of the house together envelope the garden. The large void of the of the building will be closed from the outside by glass walls and a glass roof. An intermediate climate comes into being.

The inner garden will work as a buffer between the cold outside and the warm inside. It will allow exotic plants to survive in this harsh climate: a greenhouse on the inside.
