Creating a people focused space for a leading tech company
When it came to creating a new office for award-winning parking app, PARK NOW, known as RingGo in the UK, the company needed an uplifting and creative space to support their growing team. Operating in 1,000 cities and servicing 22 million users every year, PARK NOW wanted an office to attract and retain the best talent and provide a new home for itsemployees.Creating a collaborative hub in the new 15,000 ft head office space in Basingstoke was the challenge tasked to leading office design experts, Peldon Rose, andproject managementspecialists, Gerald Eve.
Uniting a global team
PARK NOWwas previously split across multiple industrial units, a set up that was not conducive to collaboration across the rapidly growing team. Thenew office needed to bring everyone together in one space, in the same way PARK NOW’s European office already did.
PARK NOW conducted a workplace study to understandhow an office space can supporta more agile way of working. Together, with the expertise of the Peldon Rose team, these insightsshaped the design brief. Peldon Rose also worked closely with Gerald Eve Project Management, who were appointed to advise and guide PARK NOW through compiling the tender and employers’ requirements, as well as fulfilling a project management, cost analysis, and contract administration role.
Moving from a one to one static working format to a more agile way of working helped to embed the brand identity into the office. The team created a selection of flexible spaces and meeting rooms to support all styles of working and suit the business’s collaborative approach. The Basingstoke site is also home to PARK NOW’s UK call centre, which meant the team had to factor private and quieter spaces into the design, while also ensuring the team didn’t feel separated from the wider organisation.
A fun and diverse design
Russell Glover, Head of Design, Peldon Rose, commented: “The newspace is fun and diverse, in line with PARK NOW’s brand identity andit brings people together while giving each team the space, privacy, and technology they require to operate efficiently, with the help of a beautiful building to work in.The use of natural timbers and muted greys against a backdrop of vibrant blues and pinks sets the tone for a fun and sophisticated office – the use of fun lighting and planting also came into play to help liven the environment up.”
The benefits of end to end service
PARK NOW took advantage of Peldon Rose’s full end-to-end service, which included in-house design, M&E and furniture installation. The step-by-step service provides a fully connected experience for the customer.
Martin Dean, project director at Peldon Rose, explained: “Guiding the client through such a radical change to their working practices was a highlight of the project. We transformed PARK NOW from a static, old fashioned, working environment to a modern and agile workspace with a great contemporary design in a new steel and glass building.”
“We managed to keep the design on budget, and practical to the objectives of the business and needs of the employees. Our M&E expertise and installation helped to double performance and saved investment long term. Our change management workshops helped develop the project and design to what it’s become today, the client embraced our vision and fully integrated into the sessions – resulting in a fantastic finished product.”
Peter O'Driscoll UK Managing Directorconcluded: “As a company that is at the forefront of technical innovation in the mobility space, it is important to bring this vision to every part of our business, including where and how we work. As a company with collaboration and communication in its DNA, I believe this new, modern, flexible office space in the UK will encourage closer integration and foster continued innovation.
“Working with partners who understand this vision is key. Peldon Rose took our brand and transformed it into a physical space with deep understanding of what our employees needed, turning it into a reality. I look forward to a time when our whole team can come together in this amazing space they have created.”
