PEDREGAL HOUSE

The house is situated on top a hill with privileged views to the city. This was the main reason we put the two bedrooms up front. The bedrooms area two rectangular volumes that intersect the main concrete “shell” of the house. Both the front and the back of the house have curtain wall facades to let the most sunlight in from the patio and to admire the views to the city.

The staircase is the first thing you see as you enter the house, it divides the main floor into public spaces to the left and service space to the right. Public spaces being the main living room and a guest room. And servicespacesbeingthekitchen and laundryroom. Private spaces remain on the upper floor; a family room, a studio and the bedrooms.

The materials used for construction are the classic three: Concrete, Steel and Glass. This may seem like a poor solution because of Chihuahuas climate. But the house Is properly isolated with extruded poliestirene panels on all exterior walls and roofs. Windows are double panned and well protected from the sun by cantilievered roofs.
