The single-family house is located on the old land that used to belong to the Pedroso Monastery, in Vila Nova de Gaia, North of Portugal. The old monastery of the Order of São Bento was founded in 867 and after the withdrawal of the Jesuits in 1759, the property was divided and sold. The church of the Monastery remains today as the main church in the parish of Pedroso.

The plot is very steep and covers two large lots, of the subdivision designed with the objective of safeguarding the existing vegetation and trees. At the limits of the land it is not possible to build walls, only a metal fence will be placed, and the topography of the land will be maintained, preserving the trees.

On the upper floor, a large terrace was designed, which provides an exterior space leveled with the tree tops, which serves all the main rooms in this floor. The access to the house from the street is on this floor, along with a living and dining room, a kitchen, two bedrooms and one mastersuite. On the lower floor, which is partially buried in the land, we have the garage, the laundry room, a wine cellar, the guest room, the games/cinema room and a large indoor pool.

The lower floor with the granite stone facades of the region has a large patio with a helical staircase. They allow access to the pool's roof terrace. The terrace communicates with the living room and the kitchen and allows you to extend these spaces to the outside at the level of the treetops.
