Pequi

Pequi Apartment, designed by Stemmer Rodrigues in Porto Alegre, came up from client's desire to build a space that would simplify life, opening space for quintessentials after the four children went away from home.

In 138m2 property's area, the program was stablished for welcoming all the children and friends in comfort, therefore furniture seleciotn and the ideia of integration were essential in entire design. Elegance and unity are seen in colors and woodworking designs throughout the rooms, such as the couple's bedroom and the apartment's social rooms.

“We were twice as happy with this project – it's a building we've incorporated and signed, the Poema, and it belongs to clients with a lot of repertoire and knowledge in Brazilian design, which pleased us a lot when thinking about the concept”, explains Paulo Henrique Rodrigues, founding partner at Stemmer Rodrigues.

Upon entering, a washbasin is camouflaged in a wooden panel that also accommodates shoes. The natural panneling welcomes to the integrated social rooms with great fluidity. Windows spread through the entire apartment let plenty of natural light comes.

The kitchen received a large volume of white lacquered countertops and cabinets to provide a light, sophisticated environment for everyday use. Another Pequi wooden bench – which gives the project its name – covers the island that connects the rooms and the kitchen. In this area there is also a niche to accommodate the dishwasher, cellar and ovens. The laundry room was placed more discreetly at the end of the kitchen.

Brazilian furniture and soft color palette with dark tones cover the upholstery and floors. A table with a long bench and chairs seats eight people and was strategically designed for family moments. The wooden floor was installed in a different way, covering the walls up to the height of the window sills, creating a feeling of continuity.

On the way to the intimate area, mirrors line the walls that lead to two suites - originally there were three, but the project revised the distribution to the residents' needs - one being the couple's master suite and the other a room for the home office with sofa bed for guests.

In the couple's bedroom, a major highlight of the project, all the woodwork was designed in detail, as well the choice of colors – such as deep botanical greens and soft tones – and more sober decor items. The bed was placed facing the view, with its back to a wall that divides the uses of the master suite. Behind this wall is the bathroom with a large island and closet cabinets.
