Contemporary and historical meet for the new event center in Peralada’s Castle. Materials go back to essential not only to respect the natural surroundings but to integrate the addition into the existing building, which consist of two linked center for events.
Quality materials such as steel and stone were used to merge the event center to the castle and to create a sense of continuity, while trying to combine modern and past architecture. The design however was kept minimal, with simple lines that combine elegantly these materials with glass doors. The roof of the smallest building has diagonals lines, giving it a contemporary yet sophisticated look.
Almost like it could be just a roof, the back and front glass doors of the biggest building open completely offering a diaphanous space that blurs the distinction between the outside and the inside spaces.
Surrounding vegetation was considered so that the trees project vibrant shadows over the building providing it with movement and life. Overall, the project blends perfectly with its surroundings, having its own personal touch while still merging with the predominant presence of the Castle.
