This Concert hall, built in 1872, had fallen into disrepair and closed in July 2001 to embark on one of the most ambitious refurbishments of a concert hall in the Netherlands. The classic large auditorium was entirely restored to allow daylight back in. The new small auditorium has a uniquely warm, intimate atmosphere, created by the use of wood and round shapes. The technical theatre installation allows for a wide variety of uses, from classical music to dance, pop music and conferences. The technology has been built and integrated into the building as much as possible. Both the small and large auditoriums feature a rigging system, which can easily be dismantled too. The lighting bridge in the large auditorium makes it easy to provide lighting for a pop concert, but can also be lifted up and removed from view entirely for a symphonic concert
