The new office of Plano Humano Arquitectos was designed to express the studio’s identity while responding to a more dynamic, collaborative and people-centred way of working. The project began with the removal of the existing partitions, creating an open and luminous environment, with a fluid spatial organisation that accommodates different ways of working, meeting and interacting.
As the space belongs to the studio itself, the intervention adopted an “experimental laboratory” approach, allowing different materials and textures to be tested and combined. The rawness of the exposed concrete structure contrasts with the warmth of the timber used for desks, shelving and panels — all custom-designed to meet the studio’s specific needs. Fixed and movable opaline partitions help modulate the light, while a wall featuring preserved natural elements acts as a focal point and framing device. Comfort and sustainability also guided the selection of materials, including the introduction of a seamless linoleum floor incorporating cocoa shells, as well as a cellulose spray-applied acoustic ceiling. Together, these elements and materials create a sober, welcoming and contemporary atmosphere.
More than simply accommodating the studio’s day-to-day activities, the project embodies Plano Humano Arquitectos’ approach to architecture: simple, functional and sustainable, placing people at the centre of the spatial experience.
