Located on a crest surrounded by trees, and next to one of the homeowner's (and architect’s) earliest houses, this house represents an evolution of Klima founder Chris Price’s thinking and architectural approach.

The blank slate of the site, which was acquired completely unbuilt, offered an opportunity to create something contemporary that harnessed the natural elements: views unfolding across short, medium, and far distances; alpine wind moving through old growth pines; and the natural contours of the terrain.

The resulting house is designed as a stepped form rising from the land, anchored by a poured-in-place concrete base that transitions into a corrugated rusted-steel facade. Brick-red material overhangs define the entry sequence, while at the rear a trio of complementary canopies shade outdoor space and subtly echo the shapes of the mountains on the horizon.

Above it all, the roofline folds into crisp, origami-like planes, cradling the house with a sense of enclosure. Inside, the folded footprint continues this geometric choreography; the angles create varied vantage points that frame landscape views. In performance, the home meets the rigorous standard of a certified Passiv House.

Energy efficient measures are built into the house: twelve-inch-thick walls, triple-pane windows, and super insulated construction with low thermal bridging. With its sustainability, warmth, and reverence for the landscape, the built home embodies Klima’s commitment to enduring, environmentally responsible architecture.
