This 400-sqm family apartment is located in the heart of Dakar, directly facing the sea, offering expansive views and abundant natural light. Designed by Roxane Chirazi of Les Anarchitectures Studio, the project is conceived as a living gallery, where furniture and objects are treated as curated artworks within a carefully composed spatial framework.

The design approach is rooted in the idea of mixing tones, eras, and design languages to create a highly personal interior that reflects the owner’s passion for decoration, art, and travel. The result is a warm and contemporary home enriched with expressive, offbeat elements that introduce character while maintaining a strong sense of functionality.

A neutral architectural envelope—defined by light-toned floors and walls—acts as a calm backdrop, allowing daylight to flow freely through the apartment and across surfaces. Against this restrained setting, organic forms, saturated colours, and layered textures bring depth and vibrancy to the interior.

In the living room, earthy hues from the Lave chair by Marcel Wanders are echoed in the flower-inspired M’ama Non M’ama rug by Patricia Urquiola in mocha and lilac tones, creating a subtle chromatic dialogue across the space. The Array modular sofa by Snøhetta for MDF Italia introduces flexibility and adaptability through its innovative connection system, reinforcing the apartment’s dynamic, lived-in quality.

Adding a bold graphic accent, the bright blue floor lamp by Alex Chay stands beside the Lave chairs. Its playful, sculptural form—reminiscent of interlocking industrial pipes—becomes a striking visual focal point and a functional light source.

Completed by a curated mix of vintage lighting, ceramic artworks, and contemporary design pieces, this interior demonstrates how a rich and expressive environment can be created from a neutral palette by adding character - the right amount. This project by Les Anarchitectures is a study in balance—harmonious yet far from conventional—where individuality, colour, and design coexist within a refined architectural setting.
