This is a house for a couple in Ichikawa,Chiba prefecture. The couple had desired their house which makes their life beautiful. They finally had found their ideal site near the place where they met each other for the first time.

The site is much higher than the front street and there is a space which had been used as a garage under the site. It was out of budget to demolish the garage in order to make the site level same as the street. And it must avoid to make structural load on the garageʼs roof slab. These two matters lead us to divide the site into two area and the house is located on the safe ground area. The site is very small but there is a forest park by the site. The site looks just like in the forest. Sometimes, passengers walking on the paths appears on the scenery of the forest.

The couple make the most importance on their eating time. Kitchen, Dining space,their earthen pots collection and drip coffee are the . The low hight windows of the dining space keep balance between calmness of interior and openness to outside.

The roof which has 23 degrees slope has 5 skylights. The openable skylight on the dining space brings the fresh fragrance of the forest and sunshine filtered by the branch of trees. This skylight makes the room like as a part of the forest. In rain days, the couple see the rain dropping through a skylight out of the window. The sounds hitting the roof feel them nature. In the bathroom, they open the window in front of the forest.They can enjoy forest bathing literally!

Their each bed rooms are minimal spaces to assign the most area to their main space. The kitchen is place to enjoy the nature throughout the day. They can open the window and pick herbs for cooking there. When they are back home from the stormy city, they pick up books from a large book shelf in the entrance and back into their calm and beautiful life in the forest.
