In Quaresmeiras House the project's idea was to divide the terrain with an imaginary line that splits it in two parts: half for the house and half for leisure.

As requested from the client’s, the desire was that the project should make it possible to step on the grass just beyond the built limit of the house. In order to maintain the fluidity of the plan and avoid confined spaces, an outbuilding attached to the back wall solves the program of the barbecue area, changing room, and laundry room, freeing the main body of the house for integration between environments.

The idea of transforming the terrain into a plateau for the main part of the house meant that the elevation of the house was 1.50 meters above the garage, and the access to the house was done through stairs that overcame this unevenness. The west orientation of the main façade, not inviting for glass openings, imposed that the architecture of the house was designed as a frontal blind gable, covered by a skin of aluminum lath that is detached from the house envelope, marks the social entrance through some steps and at the same time protects the walls from solar radiation. The three-suite house is compact and relates very directly and generously to the recreational area. 

Upstairs, a staircase leads to the roof of the house. The waterproofed slab has been turned into a terrace from where one can contemplate the sky, the stars, and the sunset.
