Floisand Studio Architects renovated a mid-century modern kitchen in Queen Anne for Caffè Umbria co-owner Jesse Sweeney and partner, Andrea Nemia, owner of Belltown’s Structure Salon.

After over a decade of working with Jesse on four Caffè Umbria locations across Seattle and Chicago, the long-time clients and friends asked Floisand to help remodel their beloved kitchen and dining room.

The original galley-style kitchen was not conducive to their love of cooking and baking, so the primary goal was to open up the space, create more seating, and improve the flow from the kitchen to the dining area. Collaborating with Floisand the architects opened up the kitchen and adjacent dining area to create one cohesive space that reflects the couple’s sense of style. The neutral white cabinetry complements the rich walnut details including a custom screen and built-in banquette—a design detail that provides additional seating and storage.

Leaning on their experience working with Floisand on their businesses allowed for a smooth and seamless home remodel project. Jesse and Andrea now have a functional kitchen and dining area that allows plenty of space for their two kids, two cats, and a dog.
