Originally built in 1960, the existing ranch house on this lot had good bones but was beginning to show its age. Soon after purchasing the home, the owners hired us to reimagine the layout and expand the footprint to suit their growing family. Playing up the existing mid-century aesthetic, a primary suite was added and the great room was enlarged with 14-foot ceilings and wall-to-wall glazing to frame expansive views of the mountains beyond. A new courtyard roof accommodates additional covered parking and unifies the detached garage and main house, while a roof deck captures previously unseen treetop views of the LA skyline to the Northwest.
