Experientialism amid the Aesthetics of Everyday Affairs

The “things” we use daily, routine daily activities, and the qualities prevalent in various everyday experiences are encompassed within the realm of the aesthetics of daily affairs. The aesthetic experience of everyday affairs, due to the changes and transformations of everyday objects, the anonymity of the designer and creator, and the absence of any explicit authorship behind everyday objects, often falls into a realm of unfamiliarity - believability - tolerance, and so forth.

The concept of everyday affairs is somewhat elusive and reaches far and wide, making it impossible to compile a specific list of objects and activities. However, certain objects and daily activities can be pointed out that broaden the subject beyond an individual phenomenon to a more extensive cultural context in today’s world.

This project endeavors to make visible aspects of the experience of encountering behaviors and objects in our daily lives that are usually overlooked and provide the audience with a new aesthetic experience in confronting everyday affairs.”

The exhibition was sponsored by four companies. A brick manufacturing company, a water and sewage pipe manufacturer, an MDF products producer, and a manufacturer of gypsum wall partitions. In line with the overall concept of the exhibition, four artworks were designed and created using the materials produced or utilized by each of these sponsors:

1. "Brick Bonds: A Communal Celebration of Daily Rituals" beckons visitors to embrace the essence of shared experiences. The dining table, crafted from bricks, symbolizes the timeless tradition of communal meals. Thoughtfully integrated seating and lighting extend the invitation for interaction, fostering connections and celebrating the simple joy of coming together.

2. "Routine Realms: Beyond the Closet Doors" invites you to explore the ordinary in an extraordinary way. Like Howl's Moving Castle, this installation showcases everyday objects, each shelf revealing different perspectives on routine. It encourages reflection on our habits and rituals, reminding us of the significance within the seemingly mundane.

3. "Rooted Realities: A Silent Narrative" invites you to delve beneath the surface, where drywall transforms into intricate root systems. Symbolizing unseen forces binding all life, the interplay of light and shadow mirrors nature's subtleties. This expression prompts reflection on life's interconnectedness, revealing hidden beauty and inspiring reverence for the profound connections shaping our existence.

4."Tangled Realities: Navigating the Chaos" invites exploration of life's complexities through an unconventional grid of interwoven pipes. Amidst the structured pathways, intentional disruptions symbolize the unpredictability inherent in our daily lives. This installation prompts contemplation on the beauty found in disorder, reminding us that moments of spontaneity enrich our experiences amidst life's intricacies.
