This project is located in the Rupanco Lake area, specifically in the outskirts of the Puntiagudo Volcano. Its geographical surroundings are attractive as well as strategic. The scheme seeks to dominate the distant views. The inception of the project grew from the construction of a lookout-platform capable of dominating its natural environment.
The initial idea; to build a unique and flexible space, a form of shelter, that defines the way of dwelling.
The project proposes the use of local resources, such as: local labour, wood as the predominant material and the consideration of the climatic variations present in its environment.
The structural modulation of oregon pine beams and pillars, resolves on one hand, the interior liberation of fractional elements and, on the other, the search for an elevated space that allows the contemplation of the place.
The project includes a covered terrace on the first floor, which serves as an eaves for summer and as a place to watch the rain in winter. This space, connects to a second level through a vertical staircase to the shelter deck. This access to the roof terrace, was designed to contemplate the sights and stars at night.
Regarding its structure and materiality, the work is based on a slab of reinforced concrete. This is the skeleton of the structure, modulated and defined in oregon pine wood. Inside, all surfaces are lined in plywood and in wet areas with ceramic coating. For exterior cladding, recycled larch technology is used, allowing a dialogue with the adjacent construction. In addition, a transparent termo-panel is used as a curtain wall, thus allowing uniformity of the facade.
As for the coating, a nerve pre-painted plate of zinc, which supports the structure to the terrace.
